A little about article marketing.

If you have not used article marketing to promote your web site, product or service, you are ignoring a major source of traffic and advertising.

Article marketing is free (except for very sites which charge for their services) and very worthwhile. Article directories do not charge for their services. It is really a symbiotic relationship between the authors and the article directories. The Article Directories need articles and the authors need publishers for their articles.

The authors benefit from the procedure because they get their name and/or product published on many web sites on the internet. They also get backlinks from every site that publishes their article. this is part of the agreement made with the article directories when the author submits the article to them.

In the article the author can describe his product, service or marketplace or anything else that he wants to. You must not turn your article into an obvious advertisement. Article directories do not usually accept articles of this nature. The article must be of a good standard, because even if the article is accepted by the article directory it may not be re-published by other web masters on their web sites.

Part of the idea of using an article directory is to show your articles to other webmasters and have them also publish your article on their site/s or ezines, thereby spreading the word even further and also giving the author even more links to his/her site.

To get started in article marketing all you need is an idea and reasonable writing skills. If you feel that your writing skills are not up to scratch, you can pay someone to do the writing for you. Use lots of keywords relevant to you subject so that people searching for your product or service will find the article and from there find your web site by clicking on the link you put in the author's information.

These links will of course also help the search engines find you and help in your ranking in the results.

The authors information box also called the bio box (biography box) is where the author puts information about him/herself and a little about the product or service provided. Article directories usually do not allow blatant self promotion in the article itself, but the will allow it in the bio box. This is where your links will be. Generally article directories do not like links in the article itself. I do not allow them in articles at UrArticles

About three to six lines will do. Any more and the reader may lose interest.

Submitting articles to article directories is laborious, even with the submission software. It is a good idea to have your article submitted for you by professional article submitters. They submit to hundreds of article directories, ezines and other publishers for a small fee. The fee is small and well worth the investment considering the potential return. This one is a highly regarded article distributer: Article Marketer. I would recommend them.

If you are in a very narrow niche market you could write an email to other webmasters in your niche and ask them to publish your article on their website including your link. You might even offer to publish one of theirs in return. But, this is risky as they may not write an article that you feel is up to your standard. I might be better to write unique articles for each of these websites and mention in the email that it is unique. Unique quality content is an attractive incentive for any webmaster and he/she will find it difficult to refuse. We all know the value of such articles.
